One of those days

Everyone has them -- good travel days and bad travel days. I think today was one of those days that was just bad.

I went into the city after work to go to a young alumni meeting in midtown. I took the PATH from Exchange Place to WTC. I got out at WTC and walked towards the 456 stop at city hall. On my way there, I must have spaced out and almost walked into a speeding black car. Oops.

I get into the subway station to take the express train to Grand Central. After standing foolishly in the train waiting for it to leave, 2 local trains come and leave. Then they announce that due to the previous train using it's emergency brake, the express train will not be running. Therefore everyone from the express train sprints across the platform to hop on the next local train. The local train is so packed I end up wedged between a fat woman in front of me -- glaring at me. And a sketchy looking guy who keeps using his suitcase to bump against my ass. Lovely.

Now after my meeting, I'm tired and a little cranky because the only things I've eaten in the past 10 hrs are pretzels, some bar nuts and an ice cream cone. (at least I wasn't fasting, I guess). Anyhow. I'm sitting down as the train fills. A teenage couple sit to my left. A bunch of jersey girls sit in front of me. A group of obnoxious skater boys and their "gurls" sit behind me. I get confused by the abundance of the abundance of younger people. I look around the train car, and get utterly overwhelmed to realize that everyone is super young. Why? Apparently there was a MSG concert. I have no idea. I just feel old so I pull out headphones fir my iPhone and my trusty Harry Potter book in preparation of the movie release.
