Sheer stupidity

I know Americans are stupid. But sometimes their sheet stupidity befuddles me.

I'm taking the train into NYC today to watch the new Harry Potter movie in IMAX. So Im transfering trains from the Raritan Valley train to the Northeast Corridor at Newark Penn station.

We arrive at Newark at 11:20. Everyone rushes to Track 1 where the NEC train normally is. The next train comes at 11:33. However, on the A/D board, there's also one leaving from Track A at 11:19. So I watch everyone leave Track 1 to go to Track A to catch a train that's already left. People go over to Track A and are like. Where's the train?

Seriously you guys? Did you not notice the time of departure RIGHT NEXT TO THE TRACK?! Did you not look over at Track A and not see a train?!

And after standing on Track A for 5 min, everyone just came back to Track 1.
