There's something special about a jersey house party. It's not your normal house party. There's almost always a couple of kegs. There are always siblings of different ages. And there is always beer pong.
Thursday night, I went to my first jersey house party in many many years at my friend, DM's house.
Jersey house parties have an inordinate amount of beer. Unlike most other house parties, there may be only one handle of vodka, but many kegs of beer. Yet there are so many jersey girls and guys that dispute three tapped kegs, there is always a line. Always.
Jersey families all seem inordinately large to me. It may be just bc I'm an only child, but every other house party I've been to had included at least a family of 2 or 3. There ate 4 Gallaghers, 3 Levines, and certainly 3 McCarrons this time around. Having lots of siblings inevitably means a guest list of a wide range of ages. In this case, the eldest sister was friends with a 30 year old. The youngest was friends were still I'm high school. Funnily, the 30 year old was the gym teacher of some of the youngest kids. Awk.
Finally the people who hang out a jersey house parties are inevitably the type that really enjoy beer pong, probably are in polo t's, have ironic facial hair, and probably have a tribal tattoo, or two. It's a very interesting crowd, to say the least.
Thursdays experience was very much one of the most awkward. Keg stands, lots of pong, and ironic facial hair were all things that I haven't seen for ages. I forgot how to deal it. Fun.
