Unfamiliar Excitement

Last night I went into the city to meet up with JBA to have my first kosher meal at a legit kosher restaurant, where I had my first matza ball soup. One was ordered at the table next to me and it looked really exciting -- a giant ball of carbs sitting in chicken stock. YUM. So of course, I had to order one myself -- unfortunately, it was not as exciting as I had hoped... good, but not great.

Later we went over to SEP's apartment in Hell's Kitchen -- where her doorman let us in, greeted us, asked what apartment number we were going to, etc... now the concept of a doorman kinda freaks me out. I've never lived in an apartment building (at least not one that I remember and in the U.S.), so I've never really had to deal with them... I think it's super awkward to have someone constantly opening and closing doors for you... but whatever... I guess it's exciting to be able to say that your building has a doorman. The apartment was nice and it was great seeing SEP again after not for almost 4 months (holy crap we've been out of classes for almost 4 months!)

Also there, I got a random slew of text messages from a certain J who wouldn't completely reveal himself... It's a (917) area code and I do believe I only know one J... and that would have been JM, my favorite Delta Sig who was also my OL for NSOP... I miss that kid.

Finally as I walked back to the Path station, I passed a family from what I'd assume is the MidWest, based on their accent, who had never seen cookie cakes and were taking pictures with them... it was cute. kinda. ew. tourists...

It's strange to think of texts as being anonymous, hehe.

I can't believe you've never had Matzoh ball soup before! I will make you some again sometime... with veggie stock, though, of course. Still delicious.
