I once heard a quote that's basically stupid people talk about other
people. Average people talk about events. Smart people talk about
theories and concepts.
But to be able to talk about theories and concepts, i feel like you
must have extensive knowledge about something. You must be passionate
about something.
I have a friend that's all about food. Writing about it, making it,
even pursuing a career in it.
I have a friend who's all about medicine. Has wanted to be a doctor
since he was a kid and is now doing it.
I have a friend who's also really into her domestic living with the
cleaning, knitting but mainly cooking her family italian dishes. As
well as being the coolest female nerdy engineer I know.
I have a friend who's all about Jewish studies and is now abroad
spreading the knowledge.
I have a friend who's finally in France after majoring in it and
wanting to go her entire life.
I have a friend who's incredibly intelligent and really politically
liberally savvy. Loves to debate about politics and the struggles of
the lower class and ethnic groups that he majored in ethnic studies.
I have a friend who's majoring I marine biology and can tell you
everything there is to know about any fish ever.
I have a boss who's knitted dozens and dozens of things including
earrings.
I have a friend who's absolutely passionate about helping people and
is a pursuing higher degree at TC.
I have so many friends who are absolutely passionate about something.
I would go to any of them for a variety of topics.
But sometimes I get really nervous bc I don't know what my passion is.
I like a lot of things to be familiar with them but I feel like I
don't know anything to the point that people would ask me for an
opinion on something. And honestly, i love knowing what's going on in
my friends lives and talking about people and relationships. Does this
make me a silly boring stupid person? I'm not passionate about
anything. I feel like sometimes I don't stand for anything? Maybe this
is why I'm boring? How do I find what I'm actually interested? Ugh. I
hate being awake at night. I start thinking about stuff.

It does NOT make you a boring silly stupid person! I've heard the same quote, and I've always thought it referred to people who only engage in destructive gossip about others -- which you certainly do not do. Maybe your passion is your incredible understanding of how various forms of interpersonal relationships work. Maybe your talent is your listening skill, or your uncanny ability to accept people and learn what makes them tick. Maybe you stand for friendship, for connection, for society, for the fact that everyone, however quirky, deserves to have their story heard. In my opinion, that sounds like a pretty impressive skill set!
I find it amazing how even after 12 years you and I still think alike.
I've had this same thought over and over... I personally think your passion is life and people. You're such a deep thinker.. not just perusing the skin of a subject but going/searching deeper. Oh another passion: alcohol! YAY alcohol!!!! Well, I know -I- love me some alcohol... wine/beer/scotch/whiskey. Damn I want a good Manhattan right now.... I still remember your PB&J shot. How do you make that thing again??
