Hot And Cold

I woke up way too early for a Sunday. But it was for a good cause: Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure 5k for breast cancer research. I'm really glad that i didt it. My aunt is a breast cancer survivor and I always feel so guilty that I never get to see her. But I am so proud of her to overcome it.

It was my second legit 5k. My first was with the Women's swim team at Columbia and it was probably the worst experience of my life. This one was much better as I had some of my favorite people with me. It was a sorority event so seeing my sisters was great. GEB was the only other alumna who joined the fun, although TD was there with her company. BMC ran it with me and having a running buddy that I actually liked made the experience a much more positive one.

The only down side was the ridiculous hot weather. Hot and humid late summer in NYC is not fun. But NYC is funny. After running and sweating balls, fifteen minutes in any store leaves you freezing your ass off. Of course then you go to the subway platform where you're again sweating. Then into the air conditioned car. And then climbing stairs into the NYC heat. Up 3 flights of stairs. Into an air conditioned apartment. After saying good bye to GEB, back to the NYC heat and Path platform. Into the air conditioned subway car. Now I'm freezing my ass off on the train. WTF. Can't things be kept at a happy medium? Anyhow just wanted to vent. Back to reading about the fall of LEH.

I can't believe you ran a 5K in this weather! You're an ironwoman, Q!
