Customized

My commute home today is a few hours later than usual. After work I made a detour into the city to have dinner with DCP. We went to Giorgio's of Gramercy for an extended restaurant week dinner. Food was good; service was good. I have to admit the waiter was right their s'mores bread pudding was amazing, even though it was more brownie than bread pudding.

Either way, I love restaurant week.. Mainly because you can build your own customized 3 course meal without too much difficulty. Regular menus tend to throw me off. I never know which appetizers would to better with which dishes. With the restaurant week menu, you pretty much can't mess up and you get some of the best of the restaurants' dishes.

Kinda like the build-a-bear sitting in it's box next to me right now. The director of my department just had a son last week and he's invited the department to his son's bris. I have mixed feelings about going but feel like it's be a good opportunity to expand my horizons. So in Jewish custom, I went out to buy a gift for the baby. And while the football ready teddy bear is not quite age appropriate for an 8 day old, I'm sure that the father will appreciate it -- he's a former football player who loves the Buffalo Bills. The bear's name is appropriately named Buffalo Bill Cody. I love Build-a-Bear. It makes picking out an appropriate stuffed animal so much easier. Again customizing a product is amazing.

Even the programs I use at work every day are all based around customizing information from the SQL queries I write to the pivot tables in Excel. I love it.

But why can't they customize my commute home to jersey?! I know, I know. It's not completely feasible. But I guess I'm just annoyed that I always seem to arrive at Newark Penn Station about 2 min after my train leaves. Always = today, last Friday, and the Wednesday the week before. It's annoying and so difficult to time the Path trains that really they should claim to run on a schedule. Whatever. I'm over it now blogging helps :-)
